Other Test Credits Providing Credit on the Emory Transcript Emory University may accept language exams other than those here listed upon petition.A student may receive credit for only one test in a particular language, either in Group 1 or Group 2.Students taking IB language exams may be placed in a higher language course and should take the relevant placement test to determine the appropriate course to take. Language course equivalents are for the purpose of awarding credit only and do not indicate a student’s level of placement in a language.Credit will normally be given only for Group 2 Language Acquisition (Language B) courses however, students who complete Group 1 Studies in Language & Literature (Language A) courses outside their native language may also receive credit. For all IB language courses, it must be determined whether or not the student took the IB course in her or his native language.Students placed in the heritage track must take a course on the heritage track (CHN103, 203, 303 or 403), so cannot use the AP/IB CHN102 credit to fulfill GER requirement, but may use it towards graduation.ĪP Spanish Literature and Culture Spanish Language and Culture To fulfill the GER language requirement, students placed in the non-heritage track must take a course above CHN102. Placement is required to determine the first course to take at Emory. Students who achieve 4 or 5 on the Chinese AP exam or 6 or 7 on the IB may receive 3 credits equivalent of CHN102. If a student begins a new language at Emory, they will be required to complete a second sequential course to complete the GER area. Note that to complete the IC requirement, students must complete one additional language course in the same language as their test credit at Emory. The following test credit courses may satisfy one of two required Intercultural Communication (IC) courses. For IB courses, credit is awarded for Higher Level exams only. Students who take both the AP and IB tests for the same course are eligible to have only one test posted for the course.Where two exams are offered in one field, credit will be offered for one but not both exams.The following test credit courses satisfy the First-Year Writing Requirement
